Visiting Chianti by Vespa

is an unforgettable experience

Your experience in the Langhe on your Vespa will come alive with unique landscapes, the lands of the leading wines in Piedmont and Italy and the culinary traditions which have been reinterpreted. In other words, the warm welcome you will get from the territory of the Langhe will make you feel at home with its flavours, colours, roads and views that are unparalleled in the world.
Yes, this is exactly how it is and its uniqueness which can be perceived everywhere is tangible and genuine. Beyond what is written in the tour guides, the whole of Piedmont was nominated by Lonely Planet as “the most beautiful region in the world”, with the Langhe in the spotlight as the place to discover and experience.
To explore this territory, the best means of transport is the Vespa: short distances, narrow roads that climb up through the hills up to the top and parking lots that are frequently already full of cars. When you travel around the Langhe on two wheels, you travel worry free. We can guarantee this: you will be able to enjoy a landscape that in any season has its own personality, fascination and recounts a different history.
What we want to tell you here is how it unfolds over long stretches that turn into the chapters of an albeit brief yet highly intense story.

Up and down the Chianti hills

ON YOUR VESPA

What to see in Chianti by Vespa

From Radda to Greve, passing through Castellina, Panzano, Volpaia, all the way to Siena and San Gimignano. The Tuscan countryside offers countless itineraries perfect for exploring with a Vespa.

The common denominator is always the landscape, which varies from place to place, offering postcard views to be photographed and cherished among your most beautiful memories.

The heart of Chianti is represented by a number of villages, which by definition all have a name ending with “in Chianti”. Radda, for example, with its millennial history, walls, and medieval walkways. Or a little further ahead, Volpaia, a village offering an impressive panoramic view of the Chianti hills. Reaching these places by Vespa means being free to move around more easily: you can park your Vespa and continue on foot through the narrow streets, climb up onto the walls and enjoy the view.

And then you can set off again, back on the Vespa to visit one of the many other cellars in this region, here in the heart of Chianti. To try one of the most famous wines in the world, the Chianti Classico.

A stopover in Greve in Chianti is therefore a must. This town is in fact considered the “Door to Chianti”, framed only by the endless vineyards. This is where you can really get to know Chianti, meaning the wine produced using Sangiovese grapes. And to eat? No problem, because from Greve you can easily get to Panzano, a village famous for its history, disputed for centuries by Florence and Siena, but also for its food and wine.

Because Panzano is where you’ll find the Macelleria Cecchini, nothing short of legendary. A popular hangout for lovers of good food and dozens of tourists, who come here every year to taste the excellent Chianina meat prepared directly by the Cecchini family, who have been running this historical butcher’s shop for eight generations.

Up and down the Chianti hills riding a Vespa

Just like that, up and down the hills, along the country roads and narrow streets that lead directly to the heart of the village.

This is what the roads are like in Chianti, so what better way to get around than a Vespa? Because visiting Chianti by Vespa means coming into close contact with a place that offers truly unique emotions. Travelling these streets riding a Vespa means savouring the typical scents and fragrances of the Tuscan countryside. You can follow them and discover where they lead, perhaps to a holiday farmhouse, a local tavern, or the entrance to a winemaking company.

What to do in Chianti by Vespa: discovering wine and oil

Wine is in fact a flagship product of this region. Chianti is obtained mainly by processing Sangiovese grapes and in the areas you’ll explore by Vespa, you’ll find many cellars that produce it.

Including the most “famous” ones such as the Palagio estate, where Sting, the English singer, together with his wife, produces wine and oil. Or perhaps the Poggerina estate where the Servi di Maria friars have been managing one of the area’s most well-stocked cellars for decades. In classic Chianti, however, a stopover at the famous Carpineto company in Dudda is a must: famous for its Chianti, but also its Brunello di Montalcino and other wines.

Hands firmly on the handlebars, with our Vespa we can delve even further into this fantastic territory, all the way to Greve in Chianti, stopping to visit the winemaking companies that have made history with their numerous labels of renowned Tuscan wines.

From the Antico Borgo di Sugame, to the Tenuta di Riseccoli and the Tenuta La Camporena. These are just some of the wine producers and cellars that you can easily visit, and where it is possible to taste (responsibly of course!) the local wines.

For an authentic experience in Chianti, the type that forever holds a place in your heart.
