Start your Apulian adventure by setting off on your Vespa from Monopoli. This pearl of the Adriatic captivates with its compact historic center, made of white alleys, stone arches, and sudden glimpses of the sea. Once you have parked your Vespa, visit the heart of the city, which revolves around the Porto Vecchio, where typical blue fishing boats contrast with the light-colored walls and houses of the village: you will see how Monopoli perfectly combines a maritime atmosphere, history, and authentic Apulian charm.
Perched on high limestone cliffs, Polignano a Mare is one of the most iconic spots on the Puglia coast. Its historic centre climbs up the rock among white alleys, terraces overlooking the sea, and balconies that seem to hang in mid-air. A not-to-be-missed stop is the symbol of the town: Lama Monachile, a small cove tucked between tall cliffs, perfect for a pleasant scenic break.
(To get there from Monopoli, skip the faster route on the SS16 and set Torre Incina as a stop on your GPS: the ride will be a bit slower, but far more enjoyable and scenic on a Vespa.)
Leaving the coast behind, Conversano welcomes you with a completely different atmosphere: more intimate, elegant, and tied to the history of the Apulian hinterland. The imposing Castello di Conversano dominates the city with its towers and leads into a maze of alleys, quiet squares, and light stone palaces. Here the pace slows down, allowing for a stroll through history, architecture, and authentic views, far from the frenzy of the busier coastal resorts: you will discover a more intimate and surprising side of Puglia.
Your final stop is the magnificent Alberobello, where you will be surrounded by white alleys and hundreds of trulli with their characteristic conical stone roofs. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Alberobello is a destination to be experienced on foot, leaving the Vespa just outside the historic center to lose yourself among workshops, panoramic views, and truly unique architectural details.
Return to Monopoli by 7:00 PM to drop off the Vespa.
