The itinerary

Stop 1: Cocconato

Your Vespa journey begins in Cocconato d'Asti, the most charming village in Monferrato, nicknamed the Riviera of Monferrato for its mild climate and stunning panoramic position. Perched on a hill, this elegant medieval village offers beautiful views over the surrounding hills, embroidered with vineyards, hazelnut groves, and ancient farmhouses. Visiting the historic center, you'll wander through cobblestone alleys, brick buildings, and small local shops, breathing in the authentic atmosphere of these lands. You'll also find the famous and historic Gelateria Marchetti, a true local institution and an unmissable stop for artisan gelato lovers. Founded by the Marchetti family, at this renowned gelateria you can taste authentic and refined flavors, often inspired by local products.

Stop 2: Bosco del Vaj Nature Reserve

Continuing through the hills of the Asti area, you can reach the Bosco del Vaj Nature Reserve, a fascinating place where nature still retains an authentic and almost untouched character. This ancient hillside forest represents one of the most precious natural environments in the area and is home to centuries-old trees, shaded trails, and rich biodiversity. Here you can enjoy a pleasant break immersed in greenery, strolling among oaks, chestnuts, and beeches along the paths that cross the forest.

Stop 3: Albugnano

Then head to Albugnano, a small panoramic village perched among vineyards, woods, and cultivated countryside. Thanks to its elevated position, this town will offer you splendid views over the surrounding hills and, if you've chosen the perfect day to set off, even over the Alpine arc. This brief stop in Albugnano is perfect for enjoying the panorama, breathing in the quiet of the Piedmont countryside, and letting yourself be wrapped in the simple and authentic charm of Monferrato.

Stop 4: Vezzolano Abbey

Continuing your itinerary, you'll reach the splendid Vezzolano Abbey, one of the most fascinating medieval religious complexes in Piedmont. Immersed in the silence of the countryside and surrounded by vineyards and woods, this Romanesque abbey immediately strikes you with its elegant stone and brick façade. Stop for a brief visit and let yourself be surprised by the evocative atmosphere of the place: inside you can admire ancient frescoes and the refined medieval cloister, an authentic jewel of art and spirituality—an ideal stop for a cultural and contemplative break before getting back on the road by Vespa through the panoramas of the Piedmont hills.

Stop 5: Castelnuovo Don Bosco

As your final stop, Castelnuovo Don Bosco awaits you, a charming village immersed in the soft and panoramic landscapes of the Asti area. This town is known above all for being the birthplace of Saint John Bosco, a much-loved figure and founder of the Salesian order. Surrounded by vineyards, woods, and panoramic roads perfect for riding by Vespa, Castelnuovo Don Bosco will make you fall in love with the tranquil charm of the Piedmont hills and immerse you in the history and traditions of the area.
