The city has not lost this dimension; on the contrary, it has been vigorously renewed by the assignment by the ATP, the Association of Professional Tennis Players, of the ATP Finals.

So Turin beat off competition from London and Tokyo and from 2021 to 2025 will host the final act of the tennis season at the Palalpitour: the ATP Finals. A series of cross-over challenges between the top ten tennis players in the official ATP rankings-Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer will arrive in Turin to vie for the title of the world’s top player. ATP Finals in Turin: the city’s great sporting tradition continuesSince time immemorial, Turin’s history has been linked to sporting events. Cycling, soccer, tennis, track and field and rowing fill the days of Turin residents. Turin is the city where Juventus was founded in 1897 and Torino Calcio was founded in 1906. Two rival teams competing in city derbies for football supremacy.

The climax of this relationship between the city and sports was reached with the 2006 Winter Olympics. For this world event, Turin has changed its face. The Olympics were a watershed event that also brought new facilities and buildings dedicated to sports to the city. One of these is the Palalpitour itself, the home of the ATP Finals. How to reach the Palalpitour by Vespa for the ATP FinalsBeware because the Palalpitour is a facility that can also be called by other names. One of the most popular is PalaIsozaki, meaning it is directly named after the architect who designed this giant, gleaming parallelepiped.

The Palalpitour is located in the Santa Rita neighborhood, about 10 minutes by Vespa from the historic center. It is easily accessible because in that area, where the “Grande Torino” Olympic Stadium is also located, some of the city’s most important tree-lined avenues converge: corso Giovanni Agnelli, corso Re Umberto, corso Galileo Ferraris and corso Unione Sovietica.

When arriving by Vespa near the Palalpitour, where can one park? Good question. As mentioned, the Santa Rita neighborhood is very residential so finding a car parking space on the street becomes challenging. Easier to locate one of the parking spaces reserved for two-wheelers, which, in this area, are not many, a there are.

Once you have parked your Vespa, next to the Palalpitour you can take a walk in a rather large green area, “Piazza d’Armi,” a city park that was completely redeveloped for the 2006 Olympics. In addition, one of Turin’s most famous sports arenas is located near the Palalpitour: the Olympic Stadium. For the past couple of years, this facility has been named after Grande Torino, the legendary soccer team that perished in the Superga tragedy in 1949. In fact, Torino plays its home games in this stadium.

If you are a sportsman or a sports fan, discover Turin on a Vespa!
